Occupied by the Sisters of Nazareth since 1931, Nazareth House Bonnyrigg is truly a part of the history of the town, which lies to the south side of Edinburgh. Alongside a team of dedicated staff we continue to receive valuable support from the Sisters, who offer a gentle, nurturing presence in the lives of our residents and demonstrate the same commitment to pastoral care today as over 90 years ago.
The house itself, which accommodates 37 residents, is nestled within beautiful gardens that provide a tranquil place for everyone to enjoy. Our rooms offer privacy, comfort, and ample space to meet the specific needs of each individual. Some rooms feature en-suite bathrooms, while others have shared facilities, all designed for convenience. A dedicated nurse is on duty at all times, and each room is equipped with advanced safety and security measures to ensure residents’ wellbeing.
One of our priorities is striking a healthy balance between all our residents’ need for both privacy and social fulfilment. This is reflected in the layout of the main house, which includes a mixture of spacious communal areas that are perfect for group conversation, and private rooms that can be utilised for quiet reflection or time alone with loved ones. Our aim is that every resident at Nazareth House Bonnyrigg feels empowered to actively participate in life here to the extent that they would like to, and we routinely seek the feedback of our residents to shape day-to-day life at the house.
